Although the 56 bristles on the special tip work well to fish the stuff out of the drain, it is not necessary to do so. The DrainStick™ will usually break up the clog and allow you to rinse the mess down the drain. This is helped if you give The DrainStick a couple of twists while inserting and removing it.

The tip can be hooked into the hangar on the top allowing The DrainStick to be stored on a cup hook or hung over the trap. That way it is always where you can find it.

Be careful on old brass drains. The metal in these actually can dissolve away from the inside over time.  Chemicals poured in your drain accelerate this.  Nevertheless, a trap can be paper thin if it has been there a long time. While we designed The DrainStick to be flexible, disturbing a very thin trap can break it. One way to check it is to give the trap a gentle squeeze to see if it hold it's shape.

If you have chemicals standing in the water when you use The DrainStick, follow the precautions for those chemicals.
